Souhrn: Point of care ultrasonografie je definována jako ultrazvukové vyšetření prováděné u lůžka pacienta přímo ošetřujícím lékařem. V rukou lékaře klinického oboru je ultrazvuk vhodným nástrojem pro rychlou diagnostiku a sledování stavu u mnoha pacientů na interních příjmech a lůžkových odděleních, a v řadě především akutních situací zpřesňuje a zrychluje diagnostiku. Vyšetřujícímu lékaři umožňuje doplnit fyzikální vyšetření o další informace získané v reálném čase a představuje užitečný nástroj pro diferenciální diagnostiku mnoha akutních stavů, které internisté běžně řeší (akutní dušnost, šokové stavy). Výhodou použití ultrazvuku v rukou kliniků je také jeho okamžitá dostupnost a možnost libovolného opakování vyšetření. Z povahy vnitřního lékařství vyplývá, že internisté jsou jednou z odborností, které tato vyšetření uplatní u mnoha svých pacientů v řadě akutních stavů a složitých klinických situací.

Point of care ultrasonography – a „game changer“ in the approach to acute conditions in internal medicine
Summary: Point of care ultrasonography is defined as an ultrasound examination performed at the bedside directly by the attending physician. In the hands of a clinicial doctor, ultrasound is a suitable tool for rapid diagnosis and management of many patients in emergency room and internal departments, and in a number of especially acute situations, it makes diagnosis more accurate and faster. It allows the examining physician to complement the physical examination with additional information obtained in real time, and is a useful tool for the differential diagnosis of a number of acute conditions that internists routinely deal with (acute respiratory or circulatory failure). The advantage of using ultrasound in the hands of clinicians is also its immediate availability and the possibility of repeating the examination. It is clear that internists are one of the specialties that will apply these skills to many of their patients in a wide range of acute conditions and complex clinical situations.
